hiatus

Okay, don’t make a fuss. I’m in the hospital. I always had this funky heart valve. Well, a piece of it fell off, and now I need to get it fixed.

I’ll be gone for a while, and then I’ll be back. At least that’s the plan.

Don’t go away. I need the company.

As Gene Hackman said in Hoosiers:

“I love you guys.”

Earl.

Back at ya. What the heck is going on here? First Diane Rehm falls and breaks her pelvis, and now you! Look out Howard Stern, these things come in threes.

To help you through it just remember John Adams' famous last words, "Larry King survives?" Or to paraphrase Mel Brooks, the secret to avoiding something like this is to stay out of a canoe or any small Italian car. Take your time. While you're off we're all starting a Proust.

Just like a great writer to leave us with a cliffhanger. Best of luck and get well soon! (Can't wait for your hospital stories).

Thanks for thinking of us readers and taking the time to let us know. We would have been worried... Still are, actually, but now we know WHY.

Good luck. Best wishes. Godspeed. All that...

Oh, and we'll expect three new sitcom ideas set in medical/hospital facilities as a result.

Our mornings will not be the same until you return. And neither will yours. I'll be praying for you, your doctors and your family. Hope that doesn't offend anyone :-)

I've been told that the secret to recovering from this type of surgery is being determined in advance that you WILL recover and to what extent.

As Major McGillis would say: Semper Fi.

We'll carry the water until you get back.

Hi Earl,
As a long-time lurker, I had to come out into the light because I wanted to wish you the very best of recoveries. You - and your amazing blog - will be missed, so please return to us soon, okay?

On the next Earl Pomerantz: Just Thinking...

Earl: Uh nurse, are you sure these gowns are supposed to be open like this? It's a bit....drafty.

Nurse: Uhm, the open part goes in the back Mr. Pomerantz.

Earl, get well soon. We're thinking good thoughts and we'll all be here waiting.

I hope your healing time is uncomplicated and safe and boring enough for you to get up and go.
