"'Radio Earlo' - Part Two"

Continuing with some of my favorite musical selections while I am on vacation, fighting for beach chairs at our favorite Hawaiian destination…

Jimmy Durante’s picture hangs on the wall directly above my piano.  That’s how special he is, and how much he means to me.

Jimmy Durante was the quintessential epitome of “sunny.”  Sometimes, I need “sunny”, to balance off my personal internal “overcast.”  And Jimmy Durante always delivers.

I have never read anything negative about Jimmy Durante.  Everybody loved him.  Wherever he performed, Durante brought a simple and unaffected joy into the audience’s hearts.

My selection today is less than upbeat.  But the truth of Durante’s performance shines like a freshly minted penny.

Close your eyes, and luxuriate in its genuine-osity.

Dean Martin always entertained me, lots of laughs, plenty of smiling, a big personality and a terrific singer. Hard to pick a favorite of his tunes, but I'll go with the one that has turned up in several movies over the last decade, "Ain't That a Kick in the Head."
